Diane Bernard was born in Rockaway Beach, NY, November 9, 1928. She received her BA from Roosevelt College, MA from University of Houston, MSW from Tulane, and her PHD from Bryn Mawr. While living in New Orleans, Diane was the Director of Social Services for the New Orleans Health Department, Director of Social Services at Tower Hospital, and faculty member at Tulane. While in Florida State, she served as dean of the School of Social Work and founded the Women’s Studies Department. She also served as chair of the Accreditation Council of Social Work Education. She has also served as editorial and corporate board member of Fourberg and still writes for the Professional Women’s Journal of Social Work. While at the University of Utah, she occupied the Belle Spafford Chair. Diane has retired to St. George, where she is the chair of Southern Utah Stonewall Democrats. |
