Nikki Boyer was born in Soda Springs, Idaho on October 5, 1942. As an "Army brat," she was fortunate to live in six states and two foreign countries. She received her degrees in Biochemistry from Texas Western. Probably best known as a bartender at the Sun, she was also part owner of that club, as well as the owner of Sisters and Reflections, all gay bars. She also owned Video One and was a partner in starting Utah Business Magazine. Nikki has been a community activist since the early 1960s. She was active in the Civil Rights Movement and Anti-war Movement. She turned to the Gay Rights Movement in the mid 1960s, and has been active since then. She is currently Chair of the Utah Stonewall Democrats, sits on the Executive Committee for the Pride Center, and was Chair and Board member of the Stonewall Center. Nikki lives in Salt Lake with her partner of 18 years, Ann Hart. Commitment StatementI am committed to USD and the Democratic Party. I have proven my commitment by serving the USD for the last 6 years. My service to our community for the last 40 plus years, has put me into a very visible position, something that benefits our organization. I have built cross community bridges, something that is needed in a director. I hope to continue to serve in any capacity that is necessary to advance the GLBT movement. Our organization now has a good foundation. I am optimistic the new executive board can take us to the next level. I also feel that I have put my money where my mouth is. I AM COMMITTED. |
