Born in Burbank, California, Mark was raised in Salt Lake City through elementary school and in Sun Valley, Idaho through high school. He attended and graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Political Science in 1986. While living in West Hollywood, Mark began volunteering on campaigns ranging from West Hollywood city council races to the Feinstein for Governor campaign in 1990. Moving back to Salt Lake city in 1992 (following the L.A. riots), he has continued to volunteer on many campaigns, amendments, and initiatives. Mark has served as a state and county Democratic delegate as well as precinct chair for the last three years. In addition to proudly sitting on the Utah Stonewall Democrats board, he also works on the Salt Lake City Gay Athletic Association board, has chaired and co-chaired Team Salt Lake participating in the 2002 Sydney Gay Games and the 2006 Chicago Gay Games respectively. Mark is also starting his second year as president of the University of Southern California alumni club of Utah and represents Utah alumni on the university's Ambassador committee. Mark is a real estate broker for One Realty Group and lives with Tyler, his partner of 14 years, and golden retriever, Sage. |
